Hi there!
In this post, I'm sharing 10 things that are lifting my spirits right now. If you are following me on Instagram, you may have seen that I've recently shared that I'm currently in an emotional rut, which occurs from time to time. There's actually a full moon tonight, so that explains quite a lot of things.
When I feel down or get into emotional funks, I like to tend to things that lift my spirits and bring me joy, which usually consists of things that make me laugh, feel comforted and safe, and allow me to express how I feel.
This post is simple, but I hope it sends you some joy in these times! Maybe these 10 things will help lift your spirits as well.
1. Primink
I've been watching a ton of Youtube lately, and one of my favorite channels right now is Primink. He makes videos on other Youtubers, shining a light on the people who's actions need to be brought to the surface. He does interesting, investigated research on unpopular topics, and it's incredibly entertaining. He's also funny and his voice just welcomes you into the video. If you need a good laugh or a break from the world, check out this channel here.
2. Peppermint tea
I have found that I thoroughly love peppermint tea. It's fantastic for stress, digestion, headaches, cramps, and it just tastes so good! In the afternoons, I'll brew some peppermint tea to treat my mind after a day of work.
3. #SelfCare app
I've had this app on my phone for a while, and I just started using it again to help me during the uncertain times. It's a great resource when you feel anxious, depressed, or are simply in a funky mood.
Read more about the app here.
4. Lemongrass essential oil
My boyfriend today told me that my bedroom always smells like lemongrass, and he's not wrong, haha! I love diffusing lemongrass essential oil, as it smells lovely and can help eliminate anxious feelings, mental fatigue, and can even increase positive emotions. It can also act as a pain reliever!
5. Fortnite
Yes, you heard me right. I have been playing Fortnite non-stop, and it is honestly one of the most fun video games I've ever played. I'm a big gamer nerd, but I never wanted to play Fortnite, until my boyfriend finally got me to try it... and now I love it.
I love playing games in these times because they give you the illusion that you're out in the world, adventuring, running around freely. The world just seems so much grander when you have a game to play.
Some of my other favorite games right now are World of Warcraft, Hearthstone, and Animal Crossing.
6. Peanut-Butter Chocolate No-Bake cookies
I made these cookies three times, and each time, they were so beyond delicious. They are (fairly) healthy, gooey, and so yummy. I would eat them all throughout the day and instantly feel lifted.
I probably should make another batch today, aha!
Find the recipe here.
7. The Love of Her Kingdom by Zoe Anastasia
This lovely book was my most recent read. It's a YA fantasy about two kingdoms who have been at war for years, and now they are both prepared to win, once and for all. Until, of course, one of the queens is captured by the opposing king, and everything changes.
It is such a great read that is both a thrill with twists and turns and a warming, cozy read that will tug at your heartstrings. I would immerse myself in the story and be taken away from all my worries.
I posted a review on my Instagram, which you can read here.
You can find it on Amazon here.
8. Every Word Has Power by Yvonne Oswald
Another book recommendation, whoop! This is my current read, and although I'm only 20 pages in, it has already begun to change my life.
This book dives deep into the science behind affirmations and the power of our thoughts. This is a topic that has always interested me, as you can see from my various blog posts, so this book is greatly intriguing to me. I have no doubt that it'll surely be intriguing to others as well.
In these strange times, it's easy to feel defeated by the world around us, but this book teaches that, regardless of what is happening, by changing our thoughts and the words we say out loud, we can be happier, healthier, and the worries will seamlessly fade away.
Find it on Amazon here.
9. My May playlist
Yesterday, I began building a May playlist on Spotify, and I found some gorgeous songs that I couldn't help but share. If you're in need of some new music, check it out here!
10. Yoga with Adriene's Yoga for Love
I did this yoga yesterday when I wasn't feeling too good, and it really helped to open my heart and boost my energy. Also, Adriene's presence is so calming and simply doing yoga alongside her brightened my day. This is a wonderful yoga practice to lift your spirits.
You can find the practice here.
